While monitoring the radio I heard a burst of static followed by a very distinct mumble. How is a mumble distinct? It was in an accent I hadn’t heard for some time. An Earthen one.

The humming has grown louder. Due to the fact that the second ship has exploded and something straight from hell has come out of it. The Soldiers are sparing no one. A large group ambushed a refugee camp last night mostly made up of newly-made orphans right before the second ship “opened”. Acrodia-15 is out fighting right now, I can even hear them… versus the creatures. We’re losing to them…

We call them Mantis.

The Soldiers have gone silent now. We’ve made it to the outskirts of town but we’ve heard reports that they’ve completely disappeared. No pun intended. Acrodia-15 and I have made a home of a refugee camp with probably two hundred people in it so far. More are on their way.

One disadvantage of the Soldiers leaving is that there is now a very low humming sound all the time. It’s coming from the other side of town. Can’t imagine how loud it is over there. Acrodia is the only squad in the refugee camp. There’s been no communication between them and other groups, things are looking grim at the moment.

Hold on, the humming’s stopped.

In 2000 work on a top secret project began, funded by the American, Chinese and Russian governments. The project was named “Ghost” and it was the most well kept secret in the history of humanity. And it still is. Sadly.

The basics, that’s all I know…

Ghost was the building of the greatest space station the world had ever seen, and it could travel through space. It would be built on the ground and fired into space by way of a huge magnetic launching system, much like firing a payload. Only on a massive scale. The ship was constructed in less than ten years and everything was ready to go. The station would hold up to one thousand people and would self-maintain for well over half a century. I was one of the people chosen to live on Ghost as it was sent into space for a certain… destination. A planet ironically named “Godsend”.

We killed one today. Well, not me. Acrodia-15 did. This is the sixth in the past 48 hours. To me, it really looks like things are starting to turn around. The enemy is dropping like flies because we’ve figured out their vice. Their soldiers have a weakness to extreme cold. Acrodia and many other squads have figured out how to focus cold onto the enemy and basically freeze them.

Phillip says it’s something about their organs are mostly artificially organic (more on that in a bit). If the organs freeze it renders them useless. But it’s difficult because the suits they wear have built-in temperature monitors. If it gets too cold it starts to increase body heat.

“Artificially organic” is something discovered during the first autopsy of a Soldier corpse. Think of it like a robot with real, breathing and working organs. But they aren’t actually grown, they’re built to simulate real organs. So much so that at first glance you wouldn’t even notice the difference. Unlike a human who can withstand a certain temperature change, these guys can’t. The slightest change could mean death, hence the suit regulator.

If we’re lucky, these are the only soldiers we’ll need to endure because as the bodies continue to drop the more evolved the AO is becoming. The organs are starting to shows signs of independence from the regulator. Possibly different models, possibly not. Scientists don’t have any idea. Let’s just hope they don’t advise that we drop ice bombs across the world.

The concept of these guys being built says that their ability to defy gravity and climb walls is nothing more but smart engineering. For some reason, though, I don’t think they used to be “machines”…

You, look amongst yourselves. Vermin, all of you. Murderer, drug dealer, war bringer. Every last one of you, the enemy. The time has come to release yourself from the shackles of this world and its dictatorship. I have seen a future without countries, without violence and without destruction! But that world- is not this world.

We must rise up against the oppressor and demand our salvation. A world without religion and politics. No longer capitalism, communism, nationalism, patriotism. If we cannot cleanse this world we must leave. To a new world that is ours. One without struggle.

He did a good job of predicting the future… Not really…

It’s soldiers versus soldiers now. The vulnerable versus the invisible.

Earlier this morning our soldiers decided it was time to move out. I found out their squad name is Acrodia-15 (after a river, apparently) and my soldier friend, the one who knocked on the door, is named Phillip. He was stationed across the ocean for five years until one day a month ago the government told all squads to head for e-vac, that there were more pressing matters here on the home front.

When he got back they were already preparing them for this whole event. The things that destroyed the towns were their ships. There was never a team that went into the towns to investiage, there was no way of getting in. The ships remain where they landed, still to this day. I made sure to remember this part: The second ship hasn’t opened yet. Whatever is in it is still waiting.

The soldiers that we are currently dealing with are the scouting party. Phillip mumbled something about building but he went past that pretty quickly.

He explained that what I had heard on that special show was correct. But that’s only half of it. They have the ability to defy gravity to a certain extent as well. And if whatever is in the second ship is any worse than what we’re dealing with now… “Let’s die fighting.” I’d much rather survive surrendering.

I’ve seen them up close now.

The “someone” at the door was a soldier, one of ours. He said that his squad needed the house to setup a defensive strike. Of course, I obliged. They have guns, you know? By the time I finished my sentence at least a dozen soldiers were piling into my house, setting up computers and machines and weapons.

Outside they were rolling some metal sheet across the street. I asked the soldier that I greeted at the door what was going on. He laughed and asked if I like my neighborhood, then told me to go look outside. The soldier outside ducked behind a dumpster and pulled a small black box out of his front pocket, looked up at the sky and then pushed a button protruding from it.

There was a bright light, followed by shaking, concluded with my windows shattering. I ducked back but my soldier friend stayed standing and when the dust cleared I joined him. We both gazed out at a crater where the metal sheet once was. The soldier behind the dumpster stood up quickly and yelled “Did we get it?!”

No.

In this moment, in this brief insignificant second, I became a believer. The wall next to the dumpster turned to mush and a blood-covered claw shot out the side of the soldiers neck. As the blood sprayed from the opposite end, the entry point, it painted our enemy.

Guns all around me, opening fire. The enemy ducks and dives before leaping up onto the building behind him and scatters away, smearing blood against it the whole way until it reached the top and disappeared. The soldiers dropped their guns to their sides and looked at each other.

They’re defying laws that shouldn’t be possible to break.

I woke up this morning and I knew something was different. No, seriously. It sounds very stupid but it’s true. Everyone has had that moment where they knew something was wrong before actually knowing it. It’s like time travel without leaving the current world. Anyway, I got up, wrote what you see in the below post and went outside.

Everything is different now…

Two bomber planes flew over as I stepped out, people were running down the street; general chaos that usually occurs when there’s been a disaster. I came back inside, luckily. The moment I shut the door someone outside was torn in half. By thin air. Sirens sounded for a moment, proceeded by a man speaking over the emergency sound system.

“Do not give in. If distortion occurs remain calm. Move into a building and lock the doors, stay away from windows.”

They started bombing the city a couple minutes ago. And by them I mean us. Amazing how quickly our armed forces can desert a war on the other side of the world so easily just to bomb their own people…

Maybe whatever the enemy is will leave… Go back to wherever they’re from… They’re not from this planet… Why did I move here?

Hold on. Someone’s at the door.

Not really. But something struck my interest the other day. For weeks now shows have been filled with propaganda. There was even a special done that had an ex-army advisor or whatever and he talked about the new “menace”. How they aren’t actually there. Now. Apparently, they are extremely advanced, and finally clarified that this enemy is not the one across the ocean. They use a technology that distorts time and space to mask themselves and all that they bring with them. The technology gathers images of the entire room or area around the soldier and then places it on them as they walk into that spot. This may explain what the man I met said, about something not there crushing an entire town. But, if this enemy is large enough to destroy towns, wouldn’t we at least hear them by now?

I don’t know… The more I read and watch about this the more it seems possible. Yet impossible at the same time.

I wonder if they’re dealing with this over there…
